Almost done, they're at the powder coater's right now getting a shot of low gloss black. These are going on a bridge on the cart path of a very prestigious golf course. (I wont say the name, but the initials are G.P.I. )It's part of a larger civil project involving modifying/adding a couple of retention ponds and replacing a crumbling undersized spillway. In the years since the spillway was built there has been lots of new construction surrounding the valley this pond is in and the amount of runoff has increased.I really like the design which based on some older rails that are located near the main hotel. It had to be tweaked to meet current code, but still goes well with the older rail.I'll post more pics as soon as it's done.Original design proposal on the bottom, final revision on the top.1st of 4 10' sections tacked up. When installed they'll be connected in the field to make 2 20' sections. They're just too heavy to make up in 20' sections. Top and bottom rails 4" x 2 " x 11g tube, mid rail 2" x 1" x 11g tube, balusters 1"x 14g square tube, newels 2" x 1/4" wall square tube.I used the 1st section as a template for the next 3 sections.Time to weld 40' of rail, one inch at a time. Ugh.Last edited by app-ironworksllc; 03-22-2012 at 12:02 PM.Brian LeonardAppalachian Ironworks L.L.C.434 Long Branch Rd, Marshall, NC 28753828 649 9966828 702 [email protected]

Reply:Looks good. Did you use use round or square for the pickets?Common sense in an uncommon degree is what the world calls wisdom.
Reply:Beautifully done, I especially like that radius corner in the last pic of post 14. However, I hate to admit it, but I like the way the ends of sloped stair handrails level out and return in the handicap style designs. After I got used to them, the "un-returned" ends of the stair rails look kinda lonely and incomplete.

Reply:Man that stuff looks great! How did you anchor them into the concrete and into the bridge at the club?It all looks like it was made at the same time as the concrete was poured.
