Just wanted to post a few pictures up before i dive in and start asking questions about a new scratch start set up i would like to build for use while i'm here in Thailand. This is my daily driver (in the US) details here: Twin Scroll 4g63 Galant VR4Nothing crazy just a nice little 4dr 4wd 400hp car to get friends and i through the snow.Wish i had pictures of each piece but i do not... Everything in the engine bay is hand made: dual pass radiator, SS rad hoses, Intercooler, Intercooler pipe, SS turbo manifold/header, intake, Coolant/engine oil catch can breather box combination, SS turbo back exhaust. Cell phone pic of the manifold installed while test fitting the Rad core. *ended up using a different core that was ~5mm thinner* I should have some more pictures floating around i can post up of a few other projects but this should give everyone a good idea of what i like to spend my time welding
Reply:Ah and here is are a couple videos of my S13 track toy having a bit of fun. This car also has an engine bay full of custom made parts [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ssTjGgQQrdE"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ssTjGgQQrdE[/ame][ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Db6pu8wzsNE"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Db6pu8wzsNE[/ame][ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FN5sy0nlecE"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FN5sy0nlecE[/ame]www.brewedmotorsports.comI love melting metal together...

Reply:Looks nice. I love the 4g63, miss mine.Any more pics of that catch can or how you did the baffle? Why is your bov on the intake pipe though? I would put mine close to the throttle body and recirculate into the intake pipe.Torchmate 2x2 CNC with Flashcut CNC controlsHypertherm Powermax45 Esab ET220i Razorweld 195 MigRazorweld 200ac/dc TigTormach 770, Tormach xstechRazorweld, Vipercut/Vipermig, SSC Foot Pedal Dealer
Reply:Finally a thread for automotive stuff! Ill be modifying the manifold on my Supra this week Ill post up my pictures

Reply:Thank you all for the kind words about my work.As for the BOV mounted to the intake pipe that is simply so the valve is mounted backwards so boost pressure can never push the valve open yet vacuum can still pull it open as designed. (many aftermarket valves are designed this way) I just choose to use the stock one reversed as not to use up any extra natural resources, always recycle when ever possible right? haha   Do trucks count?.......here's a kit I built:PT-106 over GTX-45. Reply:But then for the BOV to open doesn't the air go back through the turbo creating surge?I never had a problem with my tial opening when it wasn't supposed to. Actually never heard of a bov opening not under vaccum.Torchmate 2x2 CNC with Flashcut CNC controlsHypertherm Powermax45 Esab ET220i Razorweld 195 MigRazorweld 200ac/dc TigTormach 770, Tormach xstechRazorweld, Vipercut/Vipermig, SSC Foot Pedal Dealer
Reply:makes about 1400HP. They are upgraded cast manifolds from PPE. I'm working on getting some billet stainless ones made right now.Miller Dynasty 200Millermatic 211Instagram?.... find me @ WELD_MEDIC

Reply:You're talking about recirculating the bov, or basically making a bypass valve, much like many factory cars have set up. I'm running that way on my mazdaspeed3, with a forge bypass valve.Hobart EZ-Tig newbie.

Reply:I'm not skilled in the least, haha. I just welded up some intercooler piping this past weekend. If I can get my sheet metal brake finished, I might also build a bead roller and try to fab up some undertrays/splitters out of aluminum.got an exhaust manifold coming that just has a warped head flange, i'll weld steel bars to the runners to keep 'em in place and cut off the warped flange, make a jig to bolt a new flange to and weld the runners onto the new flange.Hobart EZ-Tig newbie.
Reply:depending on how much it is warped/how thick the flange is you may be better off relief cutting it between the runners and using a press to get it close then decking it again. (you will find a new flange will warp when you weld the runners to it) I have a lot of experience with high end turbo manifold manufacturing www.brewedmotorsports.comI love melting metal together...
Reply:My thought was, if I bolt the flange down to a thick block of AL or steel, I should be able to weld the runners to it, let it cool, and it won't warp, correct?Hobart EZ-Tig newbie.
Reply:unfortunately not always the case, i also recommend relief cutting the head flange between the runners, this will help prevent cracking in the future as well  steps i would take for replacing head flange on 4 cyl turbo manifoldMake a Jig to bolt the manifold into (turbo flange and head flange)Cut off the head flange (don't weld anything to hold the runners in place, let them move and make changes to them where needed) you don't want to have the runners under any stress if at all possible.bolt the new head flange and manifold into the jig, make 4-6 good strong tacks on each runner all the way around, back purge and weld them up.after its cool take it out of the jig and relief cut the head flange between each runner, this will allow things to move where they want. (you may need to use a press to make some minor adjustments)Deck the flange and bolt it to your engine!www.brewedmotorsports.comI love melting metal together...
