Just to share with you guys, So what started out as this..Turned in to this in only about 2 hours of nail biting..[IMG][/IMG]Not as hard as I thought it would be to set it upright. Lots more to go but should be a lot easier to do.  I will add the link to the video next week when it goes live on youtube. Or you can check on my site for the update. The address is www.kevincaron.comThis is a shot before we set it upright just to show off the work bench..I hate working on my knees....From the desk of Kevin CaronTrying to be the best me I can!www.kevincaron.comAHP Alpha Tig 200x MillerMatic 251Miller Syncrowave 200

Reply:Thanks,  lots to go yet.   Figure I will have to lay it down one more time to do all the finish work on the top. Just so I don't have to work on a ladder. Then slide it outside and call the sandblaster.  Nice smooth rust finish and off to Tucson she goes. From the desk of Kevin CaronTrying to be the best me I can!www.kevincaron.comAHP Alpha Tig 200x MillerMatic 251Miller Syncrowave 200

Reply:Kevin will the surface intersections be fair or left segmented?  Not sure if the shape in the images posted is final?Just curios why the spiral/helix/curves weren't rolled fair before the sections were attached?  Is the more organic (segmented/stepped) form instead of an even geometric curve part of your composition?interesting piece, thanks for postingCheers,Kevin Morin
Reply:Kevin,The shape is much smother than it looks. While it will be ground smooth some of the segmentation will still be there. After all I am doing this more or less by hand. Just a slip roll for shaping and all the triangles were cut by hand. Still learning as I go and having a blast doing it.From the desk of Kevin CaronTrying to be the best me I can!www.kevincaron.comAHP Alpha Tig 200x MillerMatic 251Miller Syncrowave 200

Reply:You had me a little worried it looks like you were directly under a suspended load. I know at times you have no choice, but it's still a little nerve wracking. I can't wait to see installed pics, might have to see it after it's in place. Hopefully I'll be able to stop by and say hi one of these days.
