When buying fluxcore for the 8vs suitcase, do you just buy 10lb spools? I know the 12vs takes a 30lb spool. The 8vs is listed as taking a maximum 14lb spool. I wasnt sure if this was 14lb spool only availible from miller. I just wanted to know before buying an 8vs suticase and not being able to find spools!
Reply:Yes, 10-14# spools are all that will fit. The majority you find will be 10-11# spools....or 8" spools. Some wires come in coils which would need a set of pan adaptors and some in heavier spools....but all still in that 8" size range. As long as you get wire on an 8" spool, it should fit no problem. I had an 8VS for many years and never had trouble fitting spools.QamuIs Heg qaq law' lorvIs yInqaq puS
Reply:It's a nominal designation thing. Bottom line, the 8VS accepts any 8" diameter spool that can weigh in at 10#, 11#, 12.5#, 14#, etc depending on type/size of wire. The 8 and 12 suitcase feeders get their name from the diameter size spools they accept.Oops.
