1/2" thick black plastic

I hope I am not the only one of us that has ever had a need for this type of thing , but then again maybe.  I am looking for 12"x12" sheet of 1/2" thick black plastic.  Where  in the world does one find something like this.  If it makes y'all feel better is is for cushion on a metal project I am building for one of my atvs. Thanks for any insight y'all can lend.Miller BobcatHarris cutting outfitMiller spectrum 625 plasmaVariety of shopmade tools
Reply:A large plastic cutting board from Wally World would fit the bill, except for black. I use them for insulation on lead reels. Reply:McMaster Carr, MSC, Graingers... I've got 3 different plastic suppliers in my area besides those that I've used. All of them will sell partial sheets or remnants. Delrin comes in sheets, is black , machines well and is quite durable...No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:Find a shoe repair shop and ask to see what they'll sell you.  For a pretty soft cushion see if they have some 55 crape.  To make a very durable but impact resistant cushion, see what they'll charge to glue lady's toplift on some 50-55 crape.

Reply:Check Ebay also. I got a piece of 12x15x2 907 nylon on there for $11 awhile back. There is an outfit that apparently uses a lot of that type of stuff and sells the remnants. Just to get an idea, similar stuff from a distributor such as MC was around $150. I'd also check on there if you need a place to buy rubber, etc

Reply:If you are looking for something with wear resistant qualities and double as a bearing like surface (slippery) then you will want something like delrin. Delrin comes in various colors. It is similar to a cutting board structurally speaking, but slightly different and is better for wear resistance as I mentioned.Delrin, acetyl are words to look for in your search engine.If you want cushion, delrin is NOT what you want.
