Washed oil off, brushed on some pink cleaner (containing some hydrofloric(sp?) acid), wire brushed area.  Preheat 350, tig with 4043, postheat 350.  Tacked and in oven. I didn't bevel but instead welded both sides, on second side kept puddle just deep enough to see first weld.Preheated for 30 mins removed from oven and welded inside in 6 mins, back in oven for 20 mins and welded about 1/2 of outside in 4 mins (dealing with more corosion and ribs takes more time) , back in oven for 20 mins, weld last part of outside about 4 mins, back in oven for 30 then turn off oven and let cool. I can whip up a REAL Sauce Piquant. But there is no recipe. Its something that is passed from generation to generation. Besides the recipe would be more blah blah blah!Petert
Reply:It's Hydrofluoric acid or HF and be VERY CAREFUL with that stuff. HF does not burn you, it penetrates the skin seeking out calcium. It finds the calcium when it gets to your bones and that's when the trouble starts. If you EVEN THINK you got some on you, seek medical attention immediately. They have to give injections to keep the stuff from eating up your bones.HF is used a lot in semiconductor mfg., along with just about every other major acid out there. We had guys get some on them and they were always sent to the ER immediately for treatment.Aside from that major precaution... great save on that tranny case!PapaLincoln Idealarc 250 (circa 1962)Lincoln Weldpak 155 w/Mig KitLincoln Squarewave TIG 175
