Looking to hear opinions.. would it be more acceptable to 45* miter tubing ends on something like a large rectangle so that the tubing is sealed and no water can get inside, 45* miter with drain holes in four corners, or would it be best to leave ends cut at 90* and but them together, leaving the two longest tubes open to the elements?
Reply:I 45° just about everything. No drain holes. Exceptions are drain holes at the bottom of railing legs, and boat trailers I would leave open. Holes let dirt in too, dirt holding moisture causes rust quicker than just a drop or 2 getting in there through a weld pinhole.

Reply:You could just weld a cap over the open ends of the tubing to seal it from the elements. No real need to miter the corners just to have it sealed, capping the open ends will achieve the same thing. |
