Here's a video of some flame bending for a brushguard/bumper. It ended up just over twelve inches up on each end, but the video stops about halfway through.
Reply:That's cool. Good job. But I can't get past the death metal about Chinese food. "chicken with broccoli and fried rice." sorry it's just a little funny.Offering CNC Plasma cutting and welding projects.Follow me on facebook https://www.facebook.com/nobigdeal.fabSupport those that support WW.

Reply:I'm glad to hear you all hate the music. What would be more appropriate then? Celine Dion? Yanni?
Reply:No it's death metal. It should be about death, and distruction not Chinese food. That's all. It would have been better if it was slayer, pantra, old metalica, megadeth, ect. Even cradle of filth would have been cool. But that was something I was not expecting.Offering CNC Plasma cutting and welding projects.Follow me on facebook https://www.facebook.com/nobigdeal.fabSupport those that support WW.
Reply:It was Nile, Mastodon, Anal C**t and Pig Destroyer that kept me motivated during the mindless tedium that is flame bending. But I've got a sense of humor, and my buddy who did the video made "Chicken with Broccoli" for another film he made, so I figured what the hell. "Don't forget my motherfu**ing eggroll!"

Reply:It looks great. I really need to do that and dueled a bumper for my truck. I need more ground clearance, and something stronger than the factory dodge bumper. And flame bending would get me right where I need to be. Did you use a rose bud or was it more of a cutting or welding tip? I guess I need to sit down and practice a few times first.Offering CNC Plasma cutting and welding projects.Follow me on facebook https://www.facebook.com/nobigdeal.fabSupport those that support WW.
Reply:How much time lapsed there? i.e. How long did it take to bend it?cool stuff
Reply:I used a Victor #2 brazing tip. I set it up on the table to pull down in the middle, which accelerates the process some, but it isn't necessary. I had about eight hours bend time, but a lot of the bend had to happen in one small area [one on each side], so there was some idle time letting it cool. Thermal gradient is your friend with this process. You won't save any time by starting the next bend before it is cool to the touch. |
