Hi friends, new to the forum, I got a new job and they will get me to cut lots of pipes with a propane torch, I watched few video on youtube to get an idea and it seems to be a bit slow, in the past I did all my metal cutting with cut off saw and was wondering why use a torch over it? I guess much cheaper propane/oxygen over metal blades, ThanksLast edited by falardeau; 01-22-2014 at 11:07 PM.
Reply:what diameter is pipe ?
Reply:If the pipe is thick wall, gas cutting is probably faster.
Reply:im doing 12" sch. 40 and im guessing around an inch per minute with setup time with 6" cutoff wheels. torch-cutting is not feasible in the location im doing this worktorch is faster in a child's hands. properly set up and used, the torch is capable of running much much faster than that. I don't have my charts handy but I would guess around 15ipm counting setup time, lighting, etcbosses stuff:trailblazer 325maxstar 200my stuff:sa 200fronius transpocket 180100 amp Lincoln w/f97 f350 DITKevin
Reply:If your torching that slow on sch. 40 I would make sure you have your torch adjusted and set up properly. Don't be afraid to look bad. I do it all the time. ask, ask, ask.Arcon Workhorse 300MSPowcon 400SMTPowcon SM400 x 2Powcon SM3001968 SA200 Redface1978 SA250 DieselMiller Super 32P FeederPre 1927 American 14" High Duty LatheK&T Milwaukee 2H Horizontal MillBryan |
