Couple of recent projects here that I thought would interest some first we'll start with the Grizzly.  First pic is what it's replacing. Second shows how I used a strong back to prevent bowing while welding the bars in place. I didn't get a pic showing the spacers I had in there while welding the bars on that side. I had a piece of 3/8" stock and two pieces of 1/4" stock between the two while welding that side. I then removed them to allow it to lay flat before welding the back of the bars to the other side.   Third pic shows how I worked at getting some of the bow out of the back side. I knew it would try to bow when welding the bars since they where toward the top but I didn't have a convenient way to get a strong back on like the front side. So when I flipped it over to weld the bottom I used the middle support as a strong back to help push it while I welded the bottom side of the bars. It didn't get rid of all of the bow but it did help. I had to do some flame straightening to finish the job.   Fourth and fifth pics are how it sits now waiting for installation with the wings.  The bars are A514 1" steel that I cut into 4" wide strips with my track torch. The tube is 2" x 6" x 3/8" wall tubing. The wings are 1/4" plate with 4" channel and 1/4" x 4" strap for stiffening. It was all welded up with 0.045" dual shield wire (for the most part). I used about 33lbs of wire on it. Reply:Now for the hay forks. I built it to my customers specifications. The tubing is 3" x 3/8" wall square with a 2"x4"x1/4" wall rectangular for the upright (what I had on hand). Reply:Thanks. The ball is to move gooseneck trailers. He wanted a 2" ball so that he could move them whether they where locked or not but also wanted it raised up so that the plate would hit and get messed up.   She owns the shop. We found her in the country looking like a drowned rat on a dry day. My daughter had to bring her home. It took her about 30 days to drive off a big tom about twice her size and ever since she's been the boss and kitty factory of the shop. Reply:Finally got finished installing the grizzly today. The normal boss was off sick and I couldn't get it scheduled to install till this weekend. Anyway here's a couple of shots of it installed. Plenty hot to be doing it (it's been 99deg the last two days) but it's nice to get it out of the way.   I also found some pics on my phone that I took while building the forks. I intended to post these to show how I offset the strap at the top. I'd forgotten about them when posting the first set of pics. Anyway it shows a easy way to bend a offset in a piece of strap. Reply:Great press trick. Grizzly looks great also. Can you kinda quick connect the hay fork by tilting the ball in or do you have to man handle it?
