I am building a 24 X 48 charcoal grill out of 304 stainless.  Sheets of 1/8" and angle.  This is the base.  I am just getting the hang of stainless.  I started on the back and by the time I got to the front I was happy with what I have.  3/32 tungsten mostly black some red.  1/16 308L filler.  Pure argon.  I started at 185 amps then turned it down to 99.    This is for indoor use.  I started in the back with filler and 185 amps available.  14 cfh argon WP20 water cooled #7? gas lens. This was the side with no filler.    Much more careful with the heat. Reply:I had to cut off three flanges and weld on a new one in the right spot.  They gave me an alignment tool.    My son cut off 2 with 4.5" grinders and 30 wheels.  On the last one I tried to gouge it off, but it made too much of a mess.   Next was the plasma.  It did a good job quick and had the least cleanup with a grinding wheel.Inside, tig tacks at every bolt hole.  When the Cs turn into Vs, I am as hot and fast as I can go.1/8 or .105" sheet ( I never measured it)  to 5/8 bar    Less than an hour around the whole thing.  Arcmster never complained.  I held it to the floor except in the corners.  "Weld through the corners"    I learned that here.Arcmaster 185 water cooled wp20 3/32 tungsten, full tilt.  3/32 E70S-6.  Stool  Last edited by David R; 11-03-2011 at 07:32 PM.Real world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
