Is there a general rule of thumb for dual shield or inner shield "MIG" welding? The charts I find seam to all be set up for solid wire. Can I just knock the feed rate up X% or something to get a decent starting point?

Reply:RTFM.  Seriously, read the 'manual' or in this case the product spec sheets for the 'correct/recommended' parameters for the -exact- wire in question.  Cause the recommended parameters can vary a bit from wire to wire, and not just as a difference in shielding gas(es).Just as a quick example or fer'instance, some Lincoln FCAW wire parameters:0.068 NR-203MP 120 ipm, 20V, 225 amps0.068 NR-207     120 ipm, 19V, 245 amps0.068 NR-211MP  130 ipm, 20V, 270 amps0.068 NR-212    120 ipm, 20V, 230 amps0.068 NR-232  110 ipm, 19V, 195 ampsall right out of Lincoln's "Innershield Welding Guide"  C3.2400 9/09.That's a variance of just 1 volt there and just 110-120-130 ipm WFS, but the  amperage ranges 75 amps from 'highest' to 'lowest' amperage (about a 35% spread or so, pretty significant in my book).  All with the same diameter wire, all FCAW-S wires, just different wire compositions.  The best laid schemes ...
