Well, repair is one thing around the ranch; BFH to fit, weld like crazy. But, now I'd like to start building somethings in the barn or home garage (shop is far, far, far from ready for anything!!!). The problem is I need to start getting fitting tools like first, a reliable horizontal band saw. Biggest issue is that I'm OCD for accuracy and most threads here speak to the blades being off from a little to alot. Bryan gave me some good recommendations and now I'm anxious to hear your recommendations. Griz, Jet, whatever cuts 56-degrees when I want 56-degrees and not 57 or 54. Wet, quiet, portable on casters and 110. My 210s are dedicated to welder and compressor.
Reply:Ellis 1600. Made in Wisconsin, easy to adjust miters, and accurate. These have an easy to read scale and are pretty easy to move. They don't have casters but they have 2 wheels and a telescoping handle, so its kind of like moving a light 2 wheel trailer . They are dry cut which isn't an issue with good blades . The 1 downfall is the cam action vise but that can be substituted for a screw action vise.Miller xmt304,  Miller S22 p12, Miier Maxstar SD, Miller 252 w 30A, Miller super32p12, Lincoln Ranger 9, Thermal Arc 181I with spoolgun, Hypertherm 10000 ,Smith torches. Reply:I'd have to say if money wasn't a factor, I'd go with an Ellis saw hands down. Both the ones I've used have been top notch..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Originally Posted by CEPWith the size of the handle on the screw vice you can't cut really small things, that's why I made the extension.

Reply:I had the occasion to use a new 28 volt Milwaukee PortaBrace that a neighbor just bought today to build some pasture fencing and, while it's not for me in the shop, for a battery-operated cordless, I have to say it's amazing. You all probably already know about it and I'm late to the party as usual but I just thought those who haven't tried it shouldn't... just go buy it. It ran all day long, full power through 1/4" mild steel, 1" allthread, 1" solid pipe, 3" oil sucker rod, 16 and 22ga sheeting and roofing and... well part of my finger. I still don't feel qualified to comment reliably on welders because I'd feel awful if my recommendations were wrong but this one, like the Drill Doctor I got, are really, really great. It's power is forever and the torque is incredible. There are others out there but this one was amazing. Just thought you might like to know. And no, I didn't buy one; got Ed's generator replaced and now it's time to save a few mnths for my Ranger!!!... again!!!http://www.milwaukeetool.com/power-t...rdless/0729-20
Reply:Your specs(portable/110/casters) almost mandate a typical Taiwan saw. HF-GR-jET-Yellow oneHowever ! http://www.greenlee.com/products/SAW...oduct_id=18457Last edited by Burpee; 01-27-2014 at 03:59 AM.Bubble gumTooth pixDuct tapeBlack glueGBMF hammerScrew gun --bad battery (see above)
