I've been practicing on Aluminum in night class for a few weeks and I'm starting to get comfortable with welding it.  I know outside corners are pretty easy but I had the hardest time doing it when I started. This was done with my Everlast 250EX TIGLast edited by CGCINC; 11-23-2011 at 11:29 AM.
Reply:So how many hours of arc time did you have under your belt when welding this box?
Reply:I've been welding Alum. for about 3 weeks... 3 nights a week and about 2 - 2.5 hours a night on Alum.  20 or so hours I guess....and a few hours on my new TIG machine at my shopMy inside corners are still in the works.. lol.Last edited by CGCINC; 11-23-2011 at 11:47 AM.
Reply:Not that it counts for much, but they are def look pretty decent.JoeMiller 140 Autoset (2010)Miller Syncrowave 250 (1996)
Reply:They look real good from here. Now make that same box out of some 16 gauge, the thinner the material the harder those outside corners are for me, fit up must be perfect.
Reply:As you post pics in the future can you also post the hours you have as well? Your welds look really good. Good to see that you are willing to spend time and money to learn to weld. This is not aimed at you but there are always thoughs guys that come on here and post their pics of a couple nice beads they did on a flat piece of Al and are now ready to conquer building an intake for their car (irritating). I figure it takes atleast the first 100 hrs to learn the basics and then the next 1000 hrs to refine them and the rest of life to always work at perfecting them.
