From a quick websearch I found that a 300 needs about 100 amp breaker or more...Can I run it on a 50 or 75 ampIf I run it low?I have 100 Amp sub to the garageBut I still need lights and tunes... :lol:ThanksMiller 211Hypertherm PM 451961 Lincoln Idealarc 250HTP 221 True Wisdom only comes from Pain.

Reply:Sure, it will run up until breaker threshold. Make sure you use the right size conductors. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using TapatalkI.B.E.W Electrician and Damn Proud of It !!!! .Virtus Junxit Mors Non Separabit http://www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org/
Reply:You will only pull 100 Amps from the line when you need that kind of power at the work piece. The worst load is probably AC stick - when you brake the arc. When you TIG, you might have the machine set on 200Amps, but the voltage is more like 15V at the tungsten. That means you only need 15x200 or 3000Watts.Now machines aren't 100% efficient (they get hot) but to output 3000Watts, you only technically need 3000/230 or 13 Amps.I find that when you turn on the machine, the initial rush current (sometimes called inrush current) is noticable. My Dialarc would trip a 30Amp breaker pretty regularly. Once it was started, I could go 250 Amps easy.Con Fuse!Miller Dynasty 350Millermatic 350P-Spoolmatic 30AMiller Multimatic 200Hypertherm PowerMax 1000G3Miller Maxstar 200DX

Reply:Originally Posted by shovelonPFC is power factor correction. Every transformer(tranny)tig but Miller included it standard in the build except Miller. It is the surge when striking an arc that trips the breaker, or you can use time-delay fulses like I did for years. I ran my LindeUCC305s for years on 60 amp breakers but even with PFC(which mine did) they recommended 100amp service at 300 amps draw. The bummer with Syncs is that the field install costs much more than ordering with it as a factory option. Think of PFC as a battery backup that continuously needs charging, but feeds stored up current upon surging to prevent early breaker tripping or fuse blowing.

Reply:A moderate pressure washing is the best way to clean them up inside, but do it in warm weather and then aim some fans on the open welder for several days to dry it out completely. Make sure it's completely dry before putting power on it again. It will look like new inside. Do a search for posts by 7A749 about cleaning welders. Until it's warm weather, you can vacuum or air gun it out, being careful not to hit or damage any components. If you're going to use the air gun, do it outside.CharleyMiller MM252Miller Bobcat 225NTMiller DialArc HF / DIY Cooler2 Victor O/A TorchsetsMilwaukee 8" Metal SawMilwaukee Dry Cut "Chop" Saw 5 Ton Wallace Gantry Various Grinders, Benders, etc.
