Im starting to get into titanium pipe Tig welding.. By starting i mean i have a chance to start and i want to be a ti pipe welderIve been reading flat out about cleaning procedures, gas shielding techniques, colors, purging etcBut i cant find any information about techniques for rooting, filling, capping... Im basically studying, doing research before even getting my chance to weld.So i have a few questions if anyone could answer.. 1. For actual welding, how woukd you root it? Dip technique like duplex with a keyhole technique or continious feed like a carbon technique? Or butt a v groove together and weld with no filler?2. Similar, for filling / capping.. Which techniques are favored for this type of pipe?Ex: For duplex, i move the torch back and forth quickly in a small weave to create a full puddle and develope a rythme and dip the filler on an over or the back motion, i think it comes out nice.Anyway, any information about the actual welding process would be grateful and appreciated.. Ty in advance

Reply:its a shame he decided to not make videos anymore.. he helped a lot of people learn, including me with ss tig by watching videos over and over and reading comments over and over... reading and visualizing by watching this video...  .. i think i can see whats happening... he's not using a trailing shield so he has to wait after each 'dip' (ripple) that he keyholes and fills to cool down (the 5-10 second wait on the low high frequency) and gives it the surge on the foot pedal to melt edges/create small keyhole and fill it, then cut back on the foot pedal to let that 1 ripple to cool down with the post flow washing over the weld and end of the filler metalwhen he shows the view of the root... (im assuming and guessing this) it seems as if he does this for 3/4 - 1" of welding with this technique and stops to let the whole pipe cool down to prevent overheating (you can kind of see the starts and stops but they are tied in very well) and of course 2" will heat up very quicklyim just thinking out loud in this post... so i can come back to it later or maybe someone can voice their opinionbut i do appreciate your 2 posts and the information about fieldres to youtube.. he is a great welder/instructor..
