Yeah.... I know.... another dang table post....The one I have was done with a 110 MIG 2 years ago.... when I knew jack about welding...... And I was on a conference call while welding......I am welding a new design..... and I have now graduated to noob status.........I have a long way to go.... but here is the first part.....Pics.... and a video..... Reply:That looks to be one stout base you got going there, now how about spouting out the info. IE material size and thickness and your welding parameters. You know just the facts ,lol. Lookig good keep up the posts and good work. Good luckGod speedAnd happy weldingSent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk 2

Reply:I was wondering why yous arc sounded so odd to me,thought it might have been the audio, but when I read your spec and saw you run squarewave Lincoln...ooohhh k. We got one at work,Iike tig with it but not a fan of the stick. Too many years on buzz box comet. Don't know too much bout welding, but listening to what yourdoing is as important as seeing.I think. Project looks pretty massive, keep it coming. Might post a few pics of my, muchless massive table.
Reply:Yeah the AC7018 sounds funny to me too....... Weak sounding... Reply:We are the last country on imperial I think...... In high school I knew metric better than anything..... It makes more sense...... But 20 years later...... I think in 1/16" increments......... Reply:I like the way the 175sw burns rods. You need to get some non AC 7018. The results will noticeable immediately. Nice base I really like the locking casters."Liberalism is a mental disorder" Dr. Savage

Reply:Base and uprights look very stout, why did you make the top meant to hold the 1/2" plate so flimsy? It looks like 1.5"x1.5" tubing...Miller: 200dx, Bobcat 225, Passport, Powermax 45, Milwaukee: Dry Saw, MagDrill, grinders

Reply:if you think of one sixteenth as 6 hundrdths, and one millimter as 3 hundredths, you can go back and forrth pretty easy and be in the ballpark..
Reply:HI there Fexal,Very nice on your latest project, like also the base fab, very sturdy, are you using an AC or a DC E7018 welding electrode, just wanted to know which is better to use between the two rods. ThanksOh, just watched also your other videos, so cool on the X FAB signage design !!!!!!!!!! ---------------------------------------------------------OH so sorry for the question on the 7018 rod thing, just checked again your post and saw that you mentioned using an AC 7018 rod,Thanks again..Last edited by roberts56; 06-28-2012 at 11:48 PM.
Reply:Hey Fex,The table is looking good. Is that Google Sketchup? If so, wondering how you like it? I started using it to layout small fab jobs for myself and the people who insist on telling me a story about what they want me to make. I've tried a bunch of different CAD/CAM products but I always seem to back to Sketchup because its quick (relatively), easy and with a free plugin I can export to .dxf for cut paths on the CNC.EricAWS D1.1 Certified SMAW 3G Unlimited, Open Root FCAW-G 3G Unlimited, w/BackerCellular Tower Reinforcement Welding on the frozen tundra of the greater Mid-West
Reply:Yep I used Google Sketchup..... It's an intuitive program and I was able to design the table with very little time involved to learn how to use it......In reality I ended up changing a few things but the drawing really helped set the idea in place.....I have done things without drawings but I'm never happy with them...... So now I draw everything before I start buying metal.....Regarding AC 7018...... It's good rod but I'll be using DC next time as I like it better.....Precision TIG 185 and MP 210Bobcat 225NTCutmaster 42O/A tanks.... 2 Argon tanks...... 2 C25 TanksFacebook...... Reply:And just for shiggles.......I took some pics of the table I built over two years ago..... that I will be tearing down soon.....I did this old thing with a 110 Mig..... when I knew nothing.......Notice that I was trying to build this table with that machine...... using steel that was WAY too thick..... and I had no idea about penetration or welding..... (same topic.....).......This was 2009.....Those pics first....... then another post of new welds...... on the new table.....Old table Pics...... Reply:Maybe during real use it is not but.... right now it looks tippy! The base looks almost as wide as the top plate, but the free turning casters will reduce (and displace) the real base of the table further away from the edge of the table.I wish I could explain it better, Just hope you get the idea.MikelI have been using my new table for a couple weeks now....... it is so great to be able to move it across my garage to get the advantage position whether I am TIG or Stick welding........I love having good casters that lock..... and I already don't miss my old table.....Here is a short video (with my daughter stealing my thunder) of my new table.... about 2 or 3 weeks ago....[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pc5_tVgxSno[/ame]Precision TIG 185 and MP 210Bobcat 225NTCutmaster 42O/A tanks.... 2 Argon tanks...... 2 C25 TanksFacebook......
