I have 2 old welding helmets one with a 3.5 x 4.5 lens and one real old one with a 5 x 5 flipdown lens and was looking into making one of them into a O/A welding only but having a hard time finding bigger welding lens then the usual 2 x 4 lens. Any ideas on finding these sizes in a shade 5 or 6? Ive tried TSC and Northern tool already.
Reply:How about getting a oxy fuel face shield and just use that.

Reply:I wouldn't bother trying to find a shade to fit those old helmets - I bought a cheap fixed shade helmet for $20-30 and replaced the #10 with a #5. Used goggles for a while and they are great until you boil the puddle and it pops throwing molten steel all over the place. It would suck to catch a bit of that in the face.Hobart LX235Victor 250 Oxy-Acetylene Rig (welding and cutting)Bobcat 773F-350, 1999, 4x4, 16' 10K# trailerOutdoor Wood Burner - 10 cords/year |
