Perhaps asking a question from the professionals here when I have such a substandard TIG welder might be an insult but I am stuck.I have searched the web for some type of chart to help me in selecting the correct electrode size and type, nozzle size, current setting but have found that is usable. The manual much like the welder is a complete POS but it's what I got.I would like to tig 1/8 mild steel and would like someone to give me a starting point. I am using 100%argon at 10psi. I was thinking a #6 nozzle with 3/32 red electrode.Any suggestions?
Reply:i have the same welder. I just ordered the eastwood. I know what i feels like to have an inferior welder but this is just a hobby for me to learn and practice on my own time so its perfectly fine. for 1/8 mild i would start at like 85-95 amps and 3/32th red tungsten 3/32 er70s filler. i would increase your argon flow a little bit. This is what I used when i'm welding 1/8 on that welder.
Reply:Miller has an online tig calculator. You can also purchase the slide rule type from them as well. The slide rule type one is included I believe in Miller student packet. The packet is well worth the $25 or so for all the stuff you get with it.http://www.millerwelds.com/resources...calculator.php.No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size.
