Here are a couple of pics of the boom attachment I built. The main pole is 4X4 .250 7 feet long and mounted at a 45 degree angle to the plate. The extension jib is 3X3 .250 and 13 feet long with a 3 foot jib. The attachment plate is 3/8. It can reach about 23 feet high. The bobcat bucket it is lifting is 507lbs so I was quite happy with what it can lift at that reach. Attached Images
Reply:Guillotine? That's pretty slick. Nice that you can add a section when needed.
Reply:OH! that could get me into some serious trouble. I like it! K.I.S.S. Any issues with the weight while the boom is out? I.E. the bucket pointed down if it were on, and the boom is sticking streight out? There are no problems. There are only solutions. It's your duty to determine the right one.Hobart Handler 210Airco 225 Amp MSM Stinger

Reply:Thanks for the comments, one of the reasons I built it was to put a friend little diesel engine back in his sailboat. So I tried to make it multipurpose as well.

Reply:Looks nice I like how you made it for many attachments. I think contractors, farmers ppl that use a skidloader often would like one.
Reply:My first thought was "Bobcat Jousting" Nice job........
Reply:In the future, a little tip.You really shouldn't weld a lift eye to the center of tube wall like this. It's the weakest part of the tubing. It can distort the tubing under a heavy load, or twist with side sway as you're moving. The proper way to load the tubing is through the shoulders/side walls. You can see how the load is carried thru the vertical walls of the tubing here where it's circled. Note the gussets/strongbacks to prevent damage from side sway. You may never run into a problem though, as any serious weight will counterbalance the skid steer.Another method is to attach the lift eye to a thick piece of plate welded across the bottom of the tube and tied into the vertical walls of the tubing. The thick plate resists tearout, and the welds will tie it to the vertical walls."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
