I have a question about the 140c Lincoln 110V mig.  Are they still copper wound?  I have a SP 100 for the last 25 years and it's starting to give me issues.  They have a rebate right now and I've seen where some say it's not copper wound.  The local weld shop says go with the Miller but that's what they push.  I've been very happy with the SP 100 and if the 140C is copper wound I'll buy another.
Reply:I don't know whether they're copper- or aluminum- wound but that makes little to no difference in real-world performance or reliability. The Lincolns have a much better wire drive than the Millers, which actually does make a difference.I have an SP 100, and a buddy has a 140C, and the 140C welds much nicer IMHO.JohnA few weldersA lot of hammersA whole lot of C-clamps
Reply:As much as I dont like lincoln machines, the 140C's are a damn fine little unit for what they are meant for.  Regardless of whats inside, they work well.Have we all gone mad?
Reply:Thanks for the info.  I have red and blue in my shop and I lean to red myself.  You have made up my mind thanks.
Reply:i to have had a lincoln 100 that i have used for decades and and have loved, just this last month bought  a hobart handler 190 and it is amazing what the 240v input gives you, almost like when i went from flux to gas, this is that same upgrade feeling. i am keeping my lincoln and have it set up with the thinnest wire for dedicated sheetmetal work.bobs77vet/37ford4drEastwood digital TIG200HH190Lincoln Invertec 155sLincoln weldpak 100sears/craftsman (lincoln) 50a 240v buzz boxO/A rig Harris gaugesnexion cut 50 dxchicago electric (HF) 240v spot welder
