Today I was "that guy" did a small trade job for a buddy of mine out of the trunk of the car. Diesel is expensive and I only needed a few things. An ex renter backed the Uhaul in to the railing and it needed a fix. Reply:What is that old shield you have there, It looks like one I used to have, made by Union Carbide, boy did I get a lot of miles out of mine. it's claim to fame when I bought it was it was unbreakable, and it was."Si Vis Pacem Para Bellum"Lincoln Idealarc 250 AC/DCMillermatic 251 Syncrowave 300 30A spoolgunLincoln MP210Hypertherm 45(2) LN 25(2) Lincoln Weldanpower 225 CV(4) SA200 1 short hood SA250 SAM 400
Reply:Kolot, that is a Fibre-Metal pipeliner hood, I just chopped the neck down. It is unbreakable and always works unlike a 300 dollar autodarkener.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."

Reply:Did you put up anything to protect passers-by from the arc flash?I want to weld outside, but am always worried about messing up someone as they walked by.
Reply:Looks like a job I did last year, Maxstar 140, a hood and some rod, a little grinding, Done all out of the backseat. Its amazing what these little welders can do for ya, Ive dragged mine through crawl spaces and duct chases, even spent a good bit of time in the walls of a school behind the lockers (not a fun place to be when the light goes out, its basically a 2x200' darker than hell hall with sharp stuff sticking out all over the place and no easy way to thread yourself out without a light.
