Hello all, I am fairly new here and I figured this would be a good place for advice to my question. I have been TIG welding for the last 6 months or so. About 90% of the time it was SS and the other 10% being Mild. My beads had to be in the vicinity of under 3/8" doing Tee joining 2 1/2" square tubing with a tolerance of under a 64th. I accomplished this quit well running 3/32" filler and running about 135a. As for my question, I have a welding test tomorrow for another company. They said the test included welding 16 gauge SS and I am a bit worried as I have never TIGed anything that thin before. What kind of tips can you guys give me so that I do a good job on this welding test and get the position?
Reply:If you have your own welder, why not rustle up some 16 GA SS and practice welding it all night.Safety 3rdGump

Reply:Night before a weld test, cofee and moderate amounts of methamfetamines are your best friend.
Reply:pretty last minute. I would just show up early, tell them you have experience just not much with that material, and you could use a little warm-up time. Worth a shot, and I would think would drastically increase your chances of passing.IW Local 580 NY, NY
