I just bought a Maxstar 150 STH from CL and realized that it is missing the finger tip remote. I have never used a TIG welder but I'm pretty sure I need a controler to use the tig. Since I'm going to need one, I thought rather than buying a finger tip control I might as well get a foot control instead. So I'm wondering if a generic foot control would be as good as a Miller or should I spend the extra money to get the miller brand. Thanks
Reply:considering that the niche that the maxstar fills is light portable welding I would prefer a finger tip control for it.Dynasty 200DXPassport plus w/ spoolmate 100victor 315c oxy/(act and prop)Miller digital elitemilwaukee power tools

Reply:I only plan to use it in garage so portability is not an issue. I'm looking for the easiest style to use and was under the impression that a foot pedal is. Looks like the cost is not that much different maybe a little over $50 more for the pedal. But getting back to my question, is the quality of a generic good compared to Miller?
Reply:I will check out the SSC site. Thanks,
Reply:I addressed your other thread with my answer and I would think in the begining that a foot pedal would be much better way to learn, and again look at ssc they are a much better pedal
Reply:I saw your post and will definetly check out the SSC pedal. Thanks again.
Reply:Any pedal with a heel tab is good, the ones without suck azz, there is nothing worse than chasing the pedal around under the table...SSC, & Profax both make a decent pedal.Buy American, or don't whine when you end up on the bread line.
