Recently, at the dog kennel and on a few YouTube videos I see shinny rebar welded as a grate or grilling surface, s that regular rebar with mill scale removed or stainless rebar? It looks good for a few projects. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Reply:Bluehunter40Stainless Steel rebar does exist, but good luck buying a few feet.Any project that uses it is buyingtruck load+ lots. Most likely it was salvaged by a rod-buster, or someone that waslucky at a select scrap-yard.I'd love to have a cache becauseit would generate projects due toits kitschy opulence.Opus
Reply:So can you polish up regular rebar or an I seeing stainless Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Reply:Yes when you buff off the old rust and scale it shines up real nice. Like a nickel color almost~1987 Lincoln Sa-200~~1978 Miller Big 40~ (restored) ~and everything inbetween~
Reply:Thanks, what's the best way to do that? I was thinking bench grinder with wire wheel. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Reply:Another option might be to have it electroplated. One of my instructors back in college worked on the design for the shark tanks for the Camden Aquarium years ago. All the rebar that went into the tanks was all 316 Stainless. As Opus said they got it by the truck load and it was NOT cheap!.No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:it would be way easier and cheaper to just source some stainless woven wire in the right size and thickness you require.
