So I was sitting waiting on a phone call to go measure for a job, (they never called BTW) and decided I have an idle CNC plasma in the garage. Lets fire it up and do something for me for a change. I have been wanting to build a lighted sign for our house numbers. And figured this was a great time. A quick trip to the steel yard ($18 later) and I was off and running. Here are a few pics of where it was at after about 2 hours of work. It is currently painted and I'm letting it dry overnight. (has been sitting for about 6 hours by now) once dry I'll be adding in rope lighting and wiring it to the existing exterior lights on the house. Once the paint has dried and its mounted I'll post up a few more pics (day and night) tomorrow evening. It was made to open for access to install the rope light. But thinking about it I could have just made the back open and done without the hinge. But live and learn. I'm sure the next one will be better. Reply:I like it But are you gonna put some kind of glass to seal it off? If not it looks like a good foundation for some wasp condos. If you cant fix it with a hammer, it must be an electrical problem."Boy, everyone starts with a full bag of luck and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience before the bag of luck is empty."-Grandad circa 1990ish
Reply:I'd put some frosted glass/plexiglass on the backside of the number panel. It would make it "glow" better and keep bugs out. I might have to steal this idea but I'll have to do it freehand.Millermatic 200Hobart Handler 120Victor O/A & Ramco BandsawLincoln 225 ACSnapOn AD HoodMiller XMT304/22AHypertherm Powermax 1650 G3Lincoln Idealarc DC600 w/Extreme 12 VSMiller Digital Elite "Joker"
Reply:Yeah. It's getting a chunk of stained glass. Sorry I forgot to mintion that earlier. I'm headed over to my parents house in a bit to go through my moms glass to snag a chunk. I'll find something that looks good.Offering CNC Plasma cutting and welding projects.Follow me on facebook https://www.facebook.com/nobigdeal.fabSupport those that support WW.

Reply:Ok the adhesive holding the glass in place will not be cured untill tomorrow afternoon. So no pics of it up on the wall today. But here is a sneek peek of what the glass will look like. Reply:Yeah I didn't think of solar, but I have an outside light just about where it will be. So a hole into the block and up a bit to the junction box and its wired. Should take me about 20 min. And my outside lights are hooked to a light sensitive switch. It gets dark they come on. The sun comes up the turn off.But a solar light would be more practical if no power is available. Good thinking. If you make one I have a much better design. (I'll be building it up tomorrow) and will post pics on tuesday evening. It's a much simpler design, much faster to build, I may even offer it up as a welding project. Would be great for beginners.Offering CNC Plasma cutting and welding projects.Follow me on facebook https://www.facebook.com/nobigdeal.fabSupport those that support WW.
