I am considering getting either a Hobart Ironman 230 or a Thermal Arc Fabricator 210. Any thoughts in either?Lincoln Powermig 255Hypertherm Powermax 45Thermal Arc 161SOxweld 24R OA TorchStill Looking for an Old Round Top Idealarc 250
Reply:I haven't used the thermal arc but I have had my ironman 230 for well over a year now and love it.

Reply:I don't know about the Fabricator 210; however, the Ironman 230 has developed a reputation of being a pretty solid performing unit. When the unit is set up properly, the arc starts are very responsive. Overall arc quality is very good. It is a light spatter producer though out the entire output range the unit covers. Reply:The Thermal-arc was made in Malaysia the last time I checked. 16 taps on the Thermal a nice feature, along with a 10 pin spool-gun. Guess that means it will support a Miller 30 a. Reply:I have a Fabricator 210 and its the sweetest thing I have used on light gauge so far. I wish it had a but more top end as it just gets into spray mode with .035 wire on 1/4 plate on its last 2 fine adjustment settings, but it does get there. Besides the 10 pin, there is a spot & stich timer inside the spool cabinet. I have a small shop (physically) and its the right size for me in both amps and physical size.Thermal Arc Fabricator 2101970 Lincoln RedfaceMiller 150 STLStill need a Syncrowave and a plasma and a milling machine and a lathe and a bigger shop and a....

Reply:My Ironman is almost 10 years old.  I have never regretted the purchase.  It gets used from 14 ga to 1/2 inch with multiple pass.  Once even welded 1 inch plate ( thats a long story)
