The title should have ? at the end.Scenario:Tigging the end of a 3"x3" 1/8" square tube to the face of 5"x5" 1/8 plate (or whatever, I'm justusing this for a visual)Question:What's the best, or common, way to continue weldingand wrap the corner without stopping?Assuming this is in the flat position and no way to rotate the work piece.--I guess what I'm asking is do you usually reposition your whole body to wrap the corner or just hands and head? I know with more seat time I'll figure it out but it's currently giving me fits and most all else here hasbeen helpful so I thought I'd throw it out there. How do you know the blacksmith's dog? When you hollar at him he makes a bolt for the door!
Reply:Given a choice, I always start in the most awkward position and work towards a more comfortable position. With a corner, I'll usually position myself so the corner I want to wrap is in front of me and I work towards myself and then around the corner in front of me..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth! Ronald Reagan
Reply:Thanks DSWI am already realizing that I have been starting in the MOST comfortable positionand that has always ended up awkward.I have been thinking I should be doingexactly what you've said. Nice to have some support on that idea. How do you know the blacksmith's dog? When you hollar at him he makes a bolt for the door!

Reply:I just make sure I can turn the torch around the corner.   Like above a dry run is the best way.I find I have to start or stop just far enough before or after the corner to tie in with the straight. (and the next corner. Some times I even suspend the lead from above then I can just turn the torch head instead of all the cables with it.  This is usually if I am doing more than one piece.DavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
