Hello,I'm currently working on a project which requires Charpy impact Tests on materials. I've formed WPQRs in accordance with the ASME Sec. IX , now it's time perform welder tests, (SMAW) Test specimens will be 6'' pipe with a thickness of 14 mm+ (SCH120 or SCH160) and the position will be 6G. My question is ; Charpy impact tests needs to be conducted on the test specimens along with the required tests(Radiography or Bending) according to ASME Welder Qualification? That's where I stuck. I appreciate your help. ThanksLast edited by Maqdamon; 03-18-2014 at 04:02 AM.
Reply:No charpy tests are required for welder's qualification.
