Ok let me start by saying I already know I have a cheap welder. My Clarke 100E mk2 will feed wire fine when not welding. As soon as you light the torch it surges. Does this at all wire speed and amperage settings. I would also like to add that it has NOT always done this. I have owned this unit for quite awhile now, just noticed it acting up this afternoon.I have tried adjusting the tension on the feed gear, changing to a different spool of wire, putting a new tip on the gun. Im stumped.....any thoughts?
Reply:Hmmmmmmmm wow that is weird, the only thing I can add is maybe the sheeth is dirty and needs replacing. I had that happen to me one time when I ran smaller wire than the size of the sheeth and it jumped back and forth like you describe......I would start with the liner.....I like the tension tight enough that when you hold the end of the gun on a piece of wood and pull the trigger it pushes off with enough force you can't hold it back......
