Hello Everyone, Iam looking for a tig welder ac-dc that I can put in my trailer for repairs in the field. I have all the bases covered in the shop, just getting a small one for my trailer. I bleed blue... but I seen a HTP model today anyone have any input on these? Quality, user friendly,service-support. Thanks Dale
Reply:If your looking for a small ac/dc tig, I'd look at the Miller diversion series or a Thermal arc. Portability and low power consumption (inverter) are what you want. Will you be running this unit on 120v or 230v power? Reply:If you are serious and making money with the machine I'd opt for the Dynasty 200 over the Diversion every day..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:I've got an HTP 221 tig but I don't earn a living welding.Only had it for a few months. It's better than I am andI haven't broken it yet . I can say customer service with HTP is top shelf but the machine was shipped in good order and I haven't had any hiccups with it so I can't speak about equipment service. I'd imagine I'd have to wait for a part to get shipped to me and I fix it or ship it to them if it ever went down.My tig was made in Italy for HTP in Illinois per Jeff Nolandat HTP (lot of questions about that I guess.) It's madeby Stel and this looks like the closest thing to the HTP 221 (although the site is in Italian.)It has a lot of features, in fact more than I'm able to benefit from. Very flexible hose setup for the torch isnice. The on/off switch is on the back . I've keptthe manual nearby for when I want to play with the features like adjusting en & ep on ac or the pulse time, frequency, and background amps. I'm still getting used to navigating the front panel but it's nothing too difficult. So far I like it.How do you know the blacksmith's dog? When you hollar at him he makes a bolt for the door!
