I sold a digital elite a little over year ago with a welder i sold. I have a Lincoln Viking auto dark but lense is too small. I wanted to get a auto dark hood with larger lense and thought i would go with a digital elite I liked mine but say the 3M SPEEDGLAS 9100XX and wondering if it was better. I just started tig welding and looking for a great hood to tig stick and mig withEquipmentLincoln 200SATrailBlazer 275MillerMatic 252Hypertherm Powermax 600
Reply:Some people love 'em and some people hate 'em. The 9100XX that is.I have one and love it. Nice and light. Headgear is a vast improvement over the old style. Extra adjustability. Good lense size. I also like the side view, but if you dont, they supply covers with the hood.Pic the day it was delivered. Attached Images
Reply:I have never used a 3M hood but I do own a Digital elite and I've had two weldors try mine after using the 3M offering and they both said the Elite has a much clearer lens. The 'X Mode' is awesome too.Support Bacteria - It's the only culture some people have!

Reply:I have both, and I like both. The Speedglass is lighter than the Miller, but the headgear seems kind of "floppy" to me. +1 on the X-mode, very nice when working outdoors where sun glare is an issue.I tried the Jackson once, didn't like it as much as the others. Best to "try before you buy" if possible.JohnA few weldersA lot of hammersA whole lot of C-clamps
Reply:I sold a Speedglass to buy a Jackson Nexgen. For me, the Nexgen amber lens is much easier on the eyes. Everyone is different, Silicon-based's advice to try them out is the best way to find out what works best for you. |
