Found this on a truck forum. WTF!Here is the thread it came from. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=443274www.performancealuminumfabrication.com
Reply:Not the sharpest tack in the box. Nice way to get some expensive vet bills for dogs with eye problems. Plus he doesn't seem to consider he also needs eye protection himself. Ignorant, should not be allowed to own dogs. Who cares what happens to him.

Reply:I posted a comment to him last night. Saying how much of a piece of $hit he was. and it is no longer there. When i found this I could only watch a few seconds.. and then i was expecting people to call him out. but page after page, not a word. I was more disappointed in all the people giving him props for bolting a bunch of crap on instead of calling him out. This forum can annoy me sometimes but one thing i know is that would never fly here. We would have ran him off the forum.www.performancealuminumfabrication.com

Reply:I had a similar issue with my lab always wanting to sit around me when tigging over summer. Couldn't get her to stay out and didn't need her ruining her eyes so I ended up making sort of a leather hood for her. Buddy gave me a leather hood to modify and it ended up not being that hard to do, mostly just playing with straps and the front leather. Probably one of the more silly things you could see walking past a garage. This guy though...damn, the poor dog was getting blasted. Reply:Yup... And im in no way, shape or form defending what this person did, Id never think of showering my dogs with sparks, but...It seems to me like hes not intentionally hurting his pooch, seems to me like he's just ignorant. I sat around and read through part of that thread today in class, and it seems to me like the guy is 100% new to garages, tools, trucks, welding, etc.He said in that thread that his first welds were on that truck (also not the brightest idea), and that it was his first project and everything. He just simply doesnt have a clue what hes doing. Maybe he doesnt even know those sparks are hot, hes not wearing any protection and just seems like a nice guy (happily married, etc) that is totally out of his element in the shop.True, he does deserve an *** beating and all, but I think what he needs more than that, is for someone to tell him why what hes doing is wrong, why he shoudnt do it, and why grinders are dangerous. Just like putting the first thing you welded on the road.[Account Abandoned 8/8/16 Please Do Not Attempt Contact Or Expect A Reply]. See you on YouTube! -ChuckE2009
Reply:Same goes for welding. Some dingbats never stop to think that a welding arc can blind ANYTHING that looks at it, not just people. That means your dog, cats, cows and horses, anything.  When I weld out here on our farm, where we have dogs, cats, cows and donkeys, I have to make sure nothing's around, because they will naturally tend to stare at the arc.  Those poor puppies are probably blind by now. Reply:Watch the video again, Damian the dog is not letting himself get full blast, while he's sizing up this new menace for friend or foe. To me, it looks like Damian the dog is learning fast. Apparently "Red," the red collar wearing dog has already wised-up, and avoids the spark shower altogether.Yes, Damian should get a stern "NO!" but Master is certainly not encouraging Damian. If this is a one-time first-time, I don't think it's a big deal. And to me it looks like this was a quick one-minute study course for Damian. Believe it or not, Damian's kin survived the ages by confronting things that had a much worse bite than those grinder sparks.Come on men, haven't you been around  farm/shop/factory/city dogs and cats? For the most part animal's are far from stupid. They quickly learn what's up in their environments and keep themselves out of harm's way.  What's the alternative? To live their life on a short leash, or penned up forever? Then what, first time out they get clobbered because they don't recognize some common danger? So, yes, there's  a learning curve that's a part of the "tuition" to be able to live a happy free dog's life. NEXT PROBLEM - So we send a dozen or so Keyboard Kommandos  to teach Damian's Master a lesson. Then, we find out that Damian's Master is no ***** cat, and in fact he can pile challengers up like cord-wood, one after the other. So then we regroup and figure we'll have to sneak up on Damian's Master. But that brings another quandary. Since Damian and Red  don't live sheltered penned-up lives, they roam free and have learned the ropes of staying safe while being intelligent, discriminating and courageous protectors of their castle. So now, for the Kommandos to sneak in to rough-up on Damian's Master, they'll have to hurt Damian and Red first, and isn't that what we wanted to prevent to begin with?  Good LuckLast edited by denrep; 03-17-2012 at 10:31 AM.
Reply:Wow!! What a PRIK this guy is!"Maybe he does not know better??"  Sorry bud not buying it, common sense!I don't care how anyone tries to spin it. Blasting your dog in the face with grinder sparks, either out of ignorance or as "a part of the "tuition" to be able to live a happy free dog's life" is just plain BS. jrw159
Reply:What are you gonna do? Spend every minute dotting and fretting over what the dogs and cats are doing?  Damian saw Master dealing with something new and strange and came over to check it out. Master didn't deliberately set Damian up or encourage Damian to "get" the sparks. Now Damian knows what sparks are about and understands that it's one of the many new and strange things to behold in shop life. To Damian, some of  the things sure look and sound fierce, but he's figuring out that they're just "work things" and not a threat to Master or the castle.Sure, Master could chain Damian up in a corner and constantly yell "NO! NO! NO!" ‘till Master's  blue in the face and until Damian is a confused psychotic wreck. If someone wants  a kenneled dog to look at, they can pen him up. However, if one hopes to have an  intelligent, social, shop-smart dog who's free to  keep tabs on the goings-on at "his" place, while also keeping himself out of harm's way, there's no choice but to let the dog learn a few lessons on his own.Good Luck
Reply:Years ago I had a little aussie-mcnab mix who was insistent on biting at the spinning chain on the chainsaw. No---- I didn't let her learn for herself that biting the chain was a bad thing. I dealt with it quickly & appropriately in my own way. There are times when it is a clear and obvious danger to your beloved pet you have to do something to alleviate that danger to your pet. What that is I won't say. Each one has to decide for themselves, but I do truly believe that "learning the lesson for themselves" isn't always (many times it is) the answer. Might be silly but I do worry about my animals, the little woman included.  I provide guidance as necessary. Should a pet not listen to guidance and instruction, well the old saying goes = "a dog can't be any smarter than his/her master"."The things that will destroy America are prosperity at any price, peace at any price, safety first instead of duty first, the love of soft living and the get rich quick theory of life." -Theodore Roosevelt

Reply:I agree with the few points defending the guy (he's an amateur, letting the dogs learn, etc).HOWEVER, it only takes ONE spark hitting the dog in the eye to really hurt it. How much does it suck for us to get sparks in the eye? And that's all while we know what it is, how to fix it, and to ask for help. A poor dog won't know any of that, and probably just rub. If nothing else, it's EXTREMELY careless to have dogs around like that. In addition, it's also pretty stupid to post it online. But to contradict myself, perhaps he was truly, innocently overlooking the danger here, and this whole thing opened his eyes and saved the dogs from future trouble. Then to me, it's worth it.IW Local 580 NY, NY

Reply:A working garage or space is no place for an animal of any kind.
Reply:wow, i dont understand this animal worship, its his dog, he can take it out in the back yard and shoot it if he wants too, its his property. the dog will learn or will be in pain. Animals are just like people some have to learn from the school of hard knocks others learn by being told. As for getting a group together and dishing out some *** whooping why dont people save the self-righteous indignation for for the people in Sudan, Jordan and the other armpits of the world to huff and puff about, of course your liable to get shot if you try it there and its not seen on utube.    take care of your own pets he is not willfully hurting the dog and the dog is learning, we dont know how many times he has yelled at the dog, or how dense the dog is, sparks in the eyes are an instant pain, animals learn from pain, its not arc burn which wouldnt show up for hours. my dog would rather be chained up outside than be in the shop free with sparks flying even though he can get away from them, every dog is different.Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.
Reply:Take a deep breath, count to ten, and think about what some of you are advocating. You want to kill this guy, take his life, because you feel sorry for a dog. You want to drive to Moose Knuckle, Nebraska and hit him in the head with a shovel, or beat him to death with a Louisville Slugger because he put his own dog at risk of an injury. Very disturbing language on your part. How many a-b-o-r-t-i-o-n clinics would you have to drive past to get to this guys house? Two turn tables and a microphone.

Reply:Watch the video closely. He knows exactly what is happening. As for dogs learning lessons, I like the "chainsaw" scenario. I will add another. My dog hates the lawn mower. He used to try to get under the deck and bite the mower.Letting him learn the lesson by experience was NOT an option, I kind of like him. Proper training is and was the answer. If your dog does not listen to you then you are at fault for not properly training your dog.jrw159
Reply:The chainsaw and lawnmower are good examples of why it's important that a stern and sparingly used "NO!" are understood by the dog. Even if the order is given "long-distance" while the dog is out of reach. The grinder video and Damian's first shop experience are a year old now. I'll bet that today Damian is a perfectly calm shop dog who doesn't give a rip about a grinder spark and he  keeps enough distance that it's no concern. Wouldn't that be better than if by denying him the chance to "check it out" he'd become a "grinder spooked" psycho?  Myself,  I have a hunch that Damian's master is a more than qualified handler and that Damian has more than enough common sense to quickly figure his way around a shop:Check it out: Good LuckLast edited by denrep; 03-19-2012 at 10:01 AM.
Reply:Apparently the owner or cameraman have never had to have a peice of hot metal that has "welded" to your eyeball removed(see my signature!!) Reply:People who intentionally hurt animals and get caught face criminal charges for cruelty to animals.  This guy is a prime candidate.  Claiming that one is teaching an animal from "experience" with something that can blind him doesn't hold water, any more than it would if someone forced the grinder and the cameraman to take their turn so all of them could "learn".These guys don't deserve a dog.
