Reply:Not knocking you product. I'm sure it fills a "need", but it goes to show just how insane ADA can get. Here's a product that will be forced on business owners under ADA that will on average never get used, but will cost them a great deal of money ( they probably don't have and can't afford) better spent on other things, that will require regular on going maintenance and up keep and add a greater liability to the owner. Especially in places like CA where simply not having something like this can leave the business owner open to law suits if someone files a complaint.Honestly people who can not get in an out of a pool on their own, probably shouldn't be getting in the water, at least without assistance and constant supervision from some one else. If some one else IS there, then this item really isn't needed. It's purely a safety issue. When a person is in the water and tires, or has a problem, if they can't get out of the pool unassisted, they drown. All you have done is make it easier for them to do so by allowing them easy access to getting in the water.I feel the same way about people who take quadriplegic vets scuba diving. Anyone who doesn't have at least minimal self rescue skills probably shouldn't be in an environment where they can be in constant imminent danger of drowning. ( I'll leave my disgust about the dignity of towing someone around like a party balloon out of this, especially since most of the vets I've seen this done to have had serious brain injuries that caused their disability.)Sorry I had a very good friend in high school who was a borderline paraplegic ( about 5% minimal use of his legs and 80% use of his hands/arms with almost no upper body strength. I know exactly what a person in a chair can and can not do, especially with minimal assistance from someone else, even before all this ADA BS started. He was confined to a chair and was unable to assist himself with many things. No matter what the bleeding hearts want to think, there would always be limitations for him. Even he thought the ADA was a stupid waste of money, but then his goal in life was to run a successful business, not sit around and go "Woe is me... The world is against me... It's too hard... ". Water therapy was a big part of his PT, but any time he got near the water he had enough floatation gear on to go white water rafting and at least 2 assistants to constantly monitor him..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth! Ronald Reagan
Reply:With the looming regulations that impact every public body of water, your product will be in high demand.  However, I fear, that most hotel, apartment complex, and condominium blocks will simply fill in their pools and do away with that attraction. Me, I don't swim anyway. Two turn tables and a microphone.
Reply:One of my friends is a physical therapist.  They've had and used a pool lift chair for years to get people in and out of the water therapy pool. Not trying to knock it, but it's not a new idea.
Reply:Not my product,  and they have 25,000 units in service already.......I welded up the newest self contained wireless remote units......Federal Gov has had these units around for years......BUT now they want units that can be operated by the handicapped person using it by themselves........again, not my product......  Miller Dynasty 350Twenty Six HammersThree Crow BarsBig Rock

Reply:Sorry, I wasn't going off on you. I thought I'd made that clear with my 1st statement. I guess not.It was a bit unclear whether this was your product or not from the very short comment you made in the 1st post. A bit more info in the future might be helpful to avoid misunderstandings. If the work is making you money in this economy, I've got no issues with that..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:Seems like a good tool to get the morbidly obese people out of the pool, but I have a feeling the easiest way around buying this is that little sign I see at every hotel and condo pool 'no lifeguard on duty, swim at your own risk'ESAB MigMaster 275Miller Econotwin HFMiller Syncrowave 250
Reply:The ADA  made it very difficult to have a municipal pool and NOT have the device to lower and raise handicap people in and out when the government passed the law that made 308,000  registered pools subject to that ruling.......Do I think it was a bad call?  Hell no I don't........because of that ruling I am able to buy expensive toys and have a good income.......lol    at least I don't blast sparks in my dogs face.......looks like beer time, CYALast edited by B_C; 03-17-2012 at 07:21 PM.  Miller Dynasty 350Twenty Six HammersThree Crow BarsBig Rock

Reply:nothing new about the design;  three hundred fifty years ago the puritans used a similar design to get errant sinners right with god by dipping them into icy ponds and rivers.   if santorum is elected you may see an increase in business;  who knows the bible thumpers might even bring back stocks.
Reply:My youngest son is paraplegic and loves to swim. We just got back from vacation in Florida and he swam in the hotel pool everyday. Swims like a fish too. He's young and strong and able to basically walk on his hands from his chair to the edge of the pool right now, but who knows, in the future he may have to use one of these to get himself in and out the pool.  All that being said, I think it's ridiculous for any entity to "require" any thing like this, especially if its a privatley owned pool. We're a pull yourself up by your own boot straps kind of family ( it's a Hoosier thang) and he'll figure out his own way to get in the pool if a lift is not there.Safety 3rdGump
