TOTALLY WORTH IT.Thats my review in three words...I got a 3M 7502 from Ebay for under $18, and picked up two sets of filters for it too ($7 a pair)...I wish I'd bought this thing years ago, up until now I'd been using a plain jane painting resperator. They were big and bulky and wouldnt fit under a welding helmet, and plus plasma and grinding dust would fill up those expensive filters too dang fast (however, I've been known to blow them out with compressed air... Dont tell OSHA  ).I decided to get something better, and Im sure glad I did. The 3M has a very nice fit and feel too it, and as advertized, fits under any of my welding hoods with zero issues.Up until now, I'd been plasma cutting with aforementioned painting resperator and a pair of burn goggles with a shade 8 lens, and now I can put that shade 8 in a nice hood and be protected from sparks/flying globs of metal/etc and not have my face get fried. I tried it out the other day and it was like I'd died and gone to welding heaven, SO much better. Im glad I have this thing, no more black boogers, sore throat (from plasma dust), or feeling like a cigarette filter. The video here tells more about all this... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqG4CHJWfrU[/ame]All I can say, is if you want to spend a few bucks on something that can make your life in the shop a little better, I highly recommend this unit. Its the best thing since the noise-canceling earbuds like Im always listening to music with as Im grinding, etc IMHO. Stay safe out there, guys [Account Abandoned 8/8/16 Please Do Not Attempt Contact Or Expect A Reply]. See you on YouTube! -ChuckE2009
Reply:Thanks for the info. and a cool video. I really like to watch your videos, you keep things interesting. Even something as boring to talk about as a respirator.Making as much progress as a one legged duck in the middle of a pond, just going in circles.
Reply:Thanks man!! I try...I thought about getting on of these respirators for like 6 months or something, but I never found any real reviews except "its good" so I hesitated to pull the trigger...Just wanted to make this so that if anyone else was thinking about it, maybe they'de have some encouragement to go for it. I've also learned that just setting up a little fan will do wonders for you as well... Especially when welding something thats bound to be smokey. Probably not good if you're running MIG or TIG but for stick welding, well, its something else I should have started doing years ago.[Account Abandoned 8/8/16 Please Do Not Attempt Contact Or Expect A Reply]. Reply:I use a shop fan. Fat folks get hot and sweaty but thats a whole other issue. I have had no problems with MIG or TIG and my fan. Its not a huge hurricane maker just a small pedistal fan. I usually dont have it blowing directly on where I am welding but still get good circulation. I can normally control how much air is blowing around where I am welding.Making as much progress as a one legged duck in the middle of a pond, just going in circles.
Reply:great video, its definatly not for everyone as there expensive but i always recommend the speedglas with adflo, i have the new 9100fx w/adflo. I will say its great for in shop work, any sort of exposed piping in the plant. Not feasible in the boiler though. If you do alot of welding and want to protect your lungs 100% this is the unit to get! Easy for me to say because the corperation buys all our welders 1 of these every 2 years but worth looking into! I to wore the 3m mask with pancake filter when i was out of highschool working at a large structural column fabrication shop (pieces in excess of 60 tons) it was all .62 coming off 1000lb spools so we did alotttt of welding in a day and it worked great, definatly know when its time to change the filters because you just cant breathe anymore lolLast edited by Pressure_Welder; 10-19-2012 at 12:16 AM.
Reply:I highly recommend this set up. This is what I use when I manage to care about my health! http://www.buyingdirect.net/North_Sa...r_p/bp1201.htm
Reply:I've got one of those, had it for awhile.  Works good.  Modified it with a tube to put the exhaust outside of the helmet.  (My helmet has leather on that covers my chin and the top and the back of my head/shoulders.  To get rid all reflective light.  If you don't exhaust your breath outside of the leather enclosure it fogs the lens.  The tube is just a bilge pump hose. Reply:You'll really come to appreciate these type of respirators when grinding, cutting and welding the galvanized stuff. Two points however. Were you fit tested for the correct size mask? Show us the seal test.

Reply:the boiler house is almost entirely made of asbestos, so we have to be fit tested once a year. Its definatly important to have a proper seal or its not even worth wearing the mask. lol we have to do special activities with our masks on hooked up to a machine while reading a story book to the examiner to check for leaks.
Reply:The fit test is mandatory for anyone who needs to wear a respirator for occupational reasons, not just for asbestos.
Reply:I don't know about you guys but respirators annoy me extremely, especially when i'm welding in a 40'C boiler room. Anyone got any tricks to make the bearable? I prefer huffing smoke over wearing one unless im welding galvanized steel. Suggestions are much appreciated.
Reply:I used my 7502 w/ 2907's most of the way through school and plan to bring it to the jobsite too. My only complaint: when it was 100*+ in the shop it'd fill up with a puddle of sweat in the bottom. At times I'd have to stop and drain it every half hour. Routinely stopping everything, pulling gloves/hood/glasses/mask, draining, wiping mask/skin, putting on mask/glasses/hood/gloves gets old. It'd be nice if they had something down there to expell sweat with each exhale.Miller Syncrowave 250 w/ PC-300 pulserLincoln AC/DC 225/125Clarke TurboWeld 150ENJackson Halo w/ gold lensHuntsman w/ blue lensDoing sanitary stainless tig
