My Grandfather had this Parker vice for his small business of making kinfes http://weldingweb.com/attachment.php...1&d=1352172452http://weldingweb.com/attachment.php...1&d=1352173843 Attached ImagesLast edited by T E B; 11-05-2012 at 10:57 PM.

Reply:Interesting feature.  There are a number of Parker vises on eBay, but none with the swivel jaw.  Save a search and if you're patient, you may find one.Dynasty 300DXSmith He/Ar gas mixerMM350PHobart Handler 120Smith LW7, MW5, AW1A

Reply:I haven't seen a Parker like that, but there was a similar Prentiss vise posted up a while back. There may have been one  other swivel jaw vise posted up there  also, but this is the one I remember easily. The other might have been a Reed vise.http://weldingweb.com/showpost.php?p...1&postcount=66http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php...51#post1219851Last edited by DSW; 11-06-2012 at 07:29 AM..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:That is a nice lookin vice but I'm not sure I understand the reason for having the swivel. What is the point?Miller thunderbolt 250Decastar 135ERecovering tool-o-holic ESAB OAI have been interested or involved in Electrical, Fire Alarm, Auto, Marine, Welding, Electronics ETC to name a just a few. Reply:I've got an old Parker that I picked up off of a farmer just over a year back and cleaned up.  Great vise... I couldn't be happier for $20.  Now I'll have to run out and  check if mine has the same sort of swivel.   I did some very preliminary digging on the history or Parker when I got mine, but don't recall coming across anything...
Reply:There is swivel jaw like that on a bench at my work, its missing the original pin, I could check it for numbers if thats any help.Briggs weldnpower 225/210/cvLn-25 suitcaseMillermatic 130

Reply:I own a similar vice.  HOLLANDS  ERIE, PA, it has 3.5" jaws, number 431/2 and opens to useable opening of about 7",  I think they are called machinists vices or tool room vices.  Handy when you need to hold a tapered piece.  Don't think they are common though.  Perhaps MC MASTERS would have them.   Best  Bob

Reply:did your gf's vise come like that or did he modify the top jaw to swivel? if you're having trouble finding a duplicate maybe a few hours with a cut-off wheel and a drill on a similar vise would give you what you're looking for?i.u.o.e. # 15queens, ny and sunny fla
Reply:I have a small one like you are looking for. PM if interested.
Reply:I think finding a good used vise depends a lot on what part of the country your in.  If there was a lot of old industry then they are more common.  Here in Fl they are far and few between.  The ones that do pop up are scarfed up by pro blue hairs who flip/resell stuff.  I always see the guys up north posting about deals on vises which sucks.  I had to pay a couple of hundred for my Colombian which is 70ish years old but like new.  But a new version of it is $600-$1000 more.Edit: I saw a guy at one of my customers beating the piss out of a 6" Witon and he was shocked when I told him how much it cost.  I was there a few months later and another guy was bitching because someone had stolen the vise. Reply:Must be an old school regional style up that way. Jim Moyer is the guy that came to my mind. Similar styles including the sheath and stitching work.
