With all the old vice restorations going on here I finally got off my butt and dug out a 1909-10 Parker 249 from under my bench I had picked up at a garage sale 10 years ago. I think I paid $5.00 for it. A buddy brought over a dump truck brake drum and I started making the post. Also added some rings for hammers. The next day I started on the vise. After 3 hours of sanding, wire wheel and pencil grinder, I finally removed four layers of paint and grease. This the result; Attached Images

Reply:I like the roll around stand, and nice job on the restoration. What are the red thinks on the base?
Reply:The little red things are Bull pins. One 3/4", one 7/8", two 3/4" Barrel pins. Mostly used to align bolt holes in beams during the erection of a building. Great for nocking slugs, bolts, expanding holes, ect. Actually, ............I had some extra paint and wanted to fill up the empty lug holes in the drum. LOLSorry, don't have any before pics. I should of took a pic of all the old paint and crud that came off!I'll post later on far the jaws will open.Last edited by BEYTILL; 11-08-2012 at 12:44 PM.
