Does anyone know what people use to clean the ends of tubing that creates the hard/straight line like what's in the attached photo? It must be something that the end of the tube goes into since the mid-tube cleaned spot has obviously been ground clean by hand. Attached Images
Reply:Flap wheel on a 4" grinder..Tube inside can be done with a stainless steel toothbrush and some acetone..Clean with acetone and a clean rag all welding areas before welding....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:I use a thin sheet of ss 20 gage. Wrap it around the tube or tape it to a plate whatever you are doing. Then flap right up and over the guide piece. Its the same idea as masking tape for a clean paint border. Also on SS i use a black wheel for the polishing. Makes a nice polished look.
Reply:You can use this on a drill or die grinder to clean the inside.GravelThe difference between theory and practice is that in theory there is no difference.
Reply:For the one on top, chuck it in a lath and use emory cloth. Could also chuck it in a rigid 300 pipe threader and use emory, or a flap disk/wheel.
Reply:Sorry guys, it looks like my Tapatalk application double posted this question here in this forum. I apologize.I appreciate the replies, but that's not really the solution I'm looking for. Some of these tubes are pretty long, so chucking them up in a lathe is not really an option. The other options presented are not going to hold the straight line. I realize the line is not important for the functionality of the weld, but I like the cleanliness/professionalism that portrays. Please post any replies in the thread listed below.I posted a reply in the other thread - http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php...ning-Tube-EndsModerator, if possible, please merge or delete this thread. |
