Reply:I found sometimes it is good to oxy aceteyne weld using square cast rods I bought years ago. I don't remember the brand, they are about 1/4" x1/4" cast iron filler. Pre and postheat the same as he described. The cruder and dirtier the project, the cruder the method. I would use gas on say a boat anchor but use arc on an engine part,
