Reply:Meh, tired of people screaming about safety. Do whatever you want. It's your body. Heck, I even took some sparklers into my ear and got flamed on here for admitting it. Reply:Bet you think twice about not wearing ear plugs? Not digging on you Joker, just pointing out that we learn from failure. My only concern with NOOBS is they don't injure others, kill them selves ok. lol

Reply:The welders I worked with in the Marines never wore anything but their normal t-shirt. Their arms always had that sunburn effect that would wear away in just a day or so. They would teach me a little here and there and I would always wish I had some kind of a jacket or something because I'd eventually get a little bit of a shock from resting my bare sweaty forearms on the metal table.Lincoln Squarewave 175Ex-aircraft sheet metal guy

Reply:I did some decently higher current AC on some aluminum, around probably 130-150 amps, with nothing but a thin with t-shirt and gloves on. It went RIGHT through that shirt, and my whole chest was burned. Only did that once...
Reply:I'm just glad hes not blowing sparks in his dogs face! For some reason saying that makes me laugh.
Reply:I think it boils down to how dark you are. Or how well you can tan. I burn fast. I would destroy myself in no time welding like that. But I worked with a couple guys (mexicans) that didn't even wear a glove on their torch hands. Not saying its a good idea.www.performancealuminumfabrication.com

Reply:Some of you get tired of rehashing safety, but I would remind you that new folks show up daily and many of them are not well informed. It gets old, but it is still new info for many folks - especially for those who don't even realize that they should be looking into it.I encourage the veterans to be patient with the newbies - many of whom are hobbyists that have no one nearby to help them learn the ropes or to warn them of the risk of permanent damage.Hobart LX235Victor 250 Oxy-Acetylene Rig (welding and cutting)Bobcat 773F-350, 1999, 4x4, 16' 10K# trailerOutdoor Wood Burner - 10 cords/year

Reply:I wear PPE for all welding and add sunblock (around the neck etc) for any prolonged TIG welding. Skin Cancer is probably not a babe magnet. In places where it IS a babe magnet, I'm thinking I wouldn't want the babes anyway.Do not Google Image Search "skin cancer".

Reply:been welding for almost 10 years, have over 80 hours of osha training. I'm still guilty of tacking with the hood up, and not wearing sleeves 100% of the time, i'm also guilty of doing a quick o/a cut with no glasses on. I thought the world might implode on itself since i did a few unsafe things but looks like we're all still here.....phew....dodged a bullet there. Not condoning being unsafe, just pointing out that you probably won't die if you forget you're sleeves at home tomorrow.ESAB MigMaster 275Miller Econotwin HFMiller Syncrowave 250
