tig rookie herejust wondering what the differences are besides the obvious and what the reasoning is behind having the power and gas separate. i thought to some extent the gas was used to cool the conductor.i'm in the market for a new gas cooled torch and am looking at the CK9 with the superflex cable option. which would be the most easily maneuverable torch? this is not for a heavy environment so i would probably skip the cable cover for the single cable but was thinking the two piece would be a little more fragile.thanks
Reply:If your machine controls the gas flow, most likely you can do a 1-piece cable. You'll need the correct style Dinse connector depending on the machine. There are different Dinse sizes and some are gas-thru connectors and some are not.Last edited by zank; 05-16-2012 at 09:57 AM.
Reply:ok thanks, you know i was poking around and think i saw that mentioned (machine gas control) for using the single cable. the machine i have is an older syncrowave 250 so it has the gas feed through the lug adapter.
Reply:you might wanna check how far you gas solenoid is from the edge of the machine i tried a 1 piece on my syncro 250 (96)and to fit it would have to make a pretty sharp bend or have to move the solenoid so rather than mess with it i took it back and went with the 2 piece course that doesnt mean every single is the same mine was a praxair brand350P 30A spool gun cut master 51 syncro 250 other stuff " take a dog off the street and make him prosper and he will not bite you sad the same cannot be said for man" i didnt use punctuation just to piss you off
Reply:All the tig setups at my school run one piece cables on syncro 250s except for mine which is a 3 piece water cooled
Reply:For air cooled one piece is the way to go, less crap to trip over and get tangled up when your out on a job.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ." |
