Hello Welders,my question is, how do you visual realize you got the root? (TIG welding, CrNi)I realize it, when the "Weldbath" gets unsettled(because of the heat) are there any other factors to see it?If there is a Thread like this, please tell me."Weldbath" means the liquid metal accures behind your electrode.Have a nice day.
Reply:Rain. I'm not perfecfly clear on what you are askig for, but do a search on this site for "keyhole". I suspect English isn't your first language. Where are you located?Welcome to Weldingweb...

Reply:When your getting penetration your will see a little ball of silica on the puddle that will dance around very rapidly. Once you see that your getting through to the backside. When I was welding vaccum jacketed piping for NASA I had a foreman show me this and it works everytime. Look for the dancing ball and keep it dancing. hope this helps!
Reply:Here is a thread on that subject not to long ago:http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=93021Here is also a good article I found on millers site:http://www.millerwelds.com/resources...-pipe-welding/It's pretty cool to see that little red dot dance around like that.kidtigger24 They think Im crazy, but I know better. It is not I who am crazy. It is I who am MAD!
Reply:Yes! im happy you can understand me. = )That was exactly, what i was looking for, thank you guys for the links and tips. This is a hint i really can use.Have a nice day.
Reply:never knew that little dancing ball meant something :]
Reply:Is that ojo del diablo similar to what you see in OA welding? A little dancing ball of contaminants on the opposite side of the puddle from the torch? I don't Tig (at least not in public) but it would be helpful if that is a good signal for OA welding, too, that you are getting full penetration.Any other tips / ideas on how to recognize good penetration with OA while welding (rather than after the fact)? Much apprecaited in advance.ThanksPS, Welcom to this forum, Rain. |
