Old electric drive welder id??

On the weekend i went hunting for material for my next project. I was exploring the back property of a farmstead, a machine grave yard of sorts.It had a little bit of everything including this machine, i couldn't identify it but guess its miller???But I know someone here will recognize itBriggs weldnpower 225/210/cvLn-25 suitcaseMillermatic 130
Reply:I am taking a stab at this but the control reminds me of Hobart.  The ring/large handle was your range selector and the center was your fine adjust.  The ranges overlapped so that you could choose a flat or steep slop at a given amperage.  I have an old portable much like that except handle is at one end and a two cylinder Wisconsin at the other.
Reply:Hello Winmac, actually I believe you have found an old Hobart. The handle on the top is sort of a "trademark" of Hobart machines. As to the rest of it, there were a number of machines that were motor driven welding generators, ie. electric motor driven. You may be familiar with what was lovingly referred to as the Lincoln "torpedoes" these were some of the best of this type. I believe that the others that were similar were less common. Reply:I've been googling torpedo, bullet , etc but yet to find an exact match. Most have the dial on the side or face and the running gear with 4 wheels.There is a data plate that has mostly turned to white dust, I've no intentions of bringing it home.Just thought its a cool looking machine.Briggs weldnpower 225/210/cvLn-25 suitcaseMillermatic 130
Reply:Neat welder, but I wouldn't call it a "great find."   Some things are just so old, burnt out and dilapidated,  that's it's better to move on and find a used one in better shape.
