Hey everyone,It's me again with another newbie education question! Basically my school offers an associates as well as a welding certification through their continuing education department. It takes 4 weekends to complete and by the end of it you can test to nationally certify. Has anybody had experience with a program like this? And if so, is it viable?
Reply:Any cert is good to have, it may open doors. But generally you're going to take your employer's test.Dont pay any attention to meIm just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400
Reply:Granted I do not have any experience, I'm really looking to get into welding as it was my first choice but life kind of steered me in another direction temporarily.
Reply:Well I looked into it a little bit more today and apparently it gets you to certify as level 1 NCCER. Is this something that would be helpful in obtaining employment?
Reply:When I went for my AA degree for Welding technology, and cert was required to obtain the degree. But, get the degree and get exposed to much more than burning rod. Then get the cert if they still offer it. It will be the first of many hopefully and the experience will give you some confidence down the road. Once you leave school it is so hard to return to finish. Most companies recognize school as experience. Those that do respect the dedication to follow through on a quest like getting a degree, let alone a high school diploma. I see so many that can't be bothered with finishing high school and expect me to hire them. Good luck with your decision.Weld like a "WELDOR", not a wel-"DERR" MillerDynasty700DX,Dynasty350DX4ea,Dynasty200DX,Li ncolnSW200-2ea.,MillerMatic350P,MillerMatic200w/spoolgun,MKCobraMig260,Lincoln SP-170T,PlasmaCam/Hypertherm1250,HFProTig2ea,MigMax1ea.
Reply:Thanks for the info.. I'm just torn I suppose. I'm really trying to get into a career quickly so I can relocate. But I also understand the importance of having a degree.
