these are pics of the hotel pierre in nyc. over time water was seeping through cracked masonry causing the steel underneath to oxidize. this oxidation or rust was pushing the stonework to a point where it was in danger of falling onto the street below. i had to weld a framework of tee sections to keep the corner stones from falling. to access the work i was using a electric hanging scaffold. Reply:after removing the stonework we found the steel to be very corroded. the engineers didn't want to replace too much so i had to weld the rivit heads to the connection plate Attached Images

Reply:That's some serious stuff. Are they going to replace the stonework or go with a different veneer?
Reply:this shows most of the new corner stonework installed. i welded the tee's from the frame to the floor beams to anchor the new corner stones. i was on this job about a year. it got very cold during the winter. one good thing about this job was we started at 7am but couldn't make any noise till 10am. Reply:the floor beams were in such bad shape that i had to build them back up using channel iron. this shows the 23rd floor. these are pics are from about 1985. Attached Images
Reply:Thats cool man!I hate heights personally, but if theres a railing, I can manage. I was Tacking up some weld neck flanges on top of a 25 story appt bldg. I looked down for like 30 seconds. Reply:these are very old pics. i been working on the ground for the last 24 years. if i had to do this kind of work now that i'm a little older and smarter i probably couldn't do it.
