I'm fairly new to welding and this forum, so forgive me if this idea has already been shared.  I built a stand for a workbench style drill press and wanted a way to easily keep it from rolling around on it's casters when in use.  I'm not a fan of the basic locking casters.  (I tacked the rear casters so they don't swivel)  I looked around my shop and found the parts that I used in this simple project.  The main part that I used is a Carr-Lane plunger style toggle clamp, similar to this one http://www.thetoggleclampstore.com/36202.html .  The rubber feet were salvaged from a Maytag washing machine.  A bit of 1/2" rod, and some aluminum angle and channel are items that should be evident in the photos.    I stood in the corner of the stand and one of the brakes easily lifted the stand, drill press and my 200 lbs.Unit in the down position, which lifts the caster about 1/8"4" aluminum channelSimple angle iron jig to hold the rods parallel Leg from Maytag washer (before I cut the threaded part off, rubber is removable for welding)JackFort Loramie, OhioMilermatic Autoset 180
