i just picked up a beverly shear tonight and i was wondering on its compasities, what will this thing cut ? and how easy is it to  get a replacement blade ? got it for 75.00 not bad and this this is OLD so its probably bullet proof..... thanks brian
Reply:Beverley shears used primarily for sheet metal. I believe the gauge capacity should be stated on the side. I have cutted 14g max. but 16g well. For 75.00 nice price bud.J P Streets Welding LLC
Reply:yeah i spent  a few hours today cleaing it, i am thinking about tearing it apart and repainting it and getting the blades sharpend, i had the use of one at my last shop so i HAD TO HAVE ONE. and its a b3 so they say it can cut 3/16 mild steel. but man what a find for the money. lowbuck was advertizing them for 980.00 w/ stand i believe, but ill build a stand  no biggy, brian
Reply:I have one in my shop, looks like it was made in the '40s, very heavy duty. I've cut up to 3/16 x 1" with it but it takes all 165 pounds of me plus some jumpin' to do it. oly thing I don't l9ike about beverlys is that they kinda twist up the metal when you get to the heavy side of 16ga, but it's a priceless toolfor patching body panels when I don't feel like firing off the plasma cutter.BTW a flapdisk and a steady hand does a great job sharpening the blades as long as they're not to beat up. and keep an eye on the alignment to ensure burless cuts.
