I'm pretty dead set on converting my Eastwood TIG to a water-cooled torch setup with a home-made type cooler like the ones people here have made on their own, but I'm trying to figure out the details. One of which is the construction of a water-cooled TIG torch, such as the WP-18 style that I've been eye'ing. Can someone please educate me on which connection does what in the pic below?#1 is the power connection right?
Reply:#1 is the gas connection. That would carry the power too.

Reply:OK, it's starting to make sense. Would this be the appropriate connector for power/gas? If so, it looks like the gas hose gets wire-tied to the "ribbed" section and goes in through the hole just below the ribs, but how would one secure a large enough power cable to the opening at the end of the copper tube? Surely it would need a 2-4ga cable, right?

Reply:Originally Posted by dave powelson#1 is the power and water out connection. The power lead is about 16 ga. wire, which is liquid cooled.-----that's 'Why?'it's able to carry the high amp loads....something most don't comprehend. The comments that the liquid cooled torch uses gas to cool the power line are less than correct.Get a schematic off weldcraft's site as to which of the other two is water inand gas in.
Reply:Go to 2:15.
Reply:Look at these pics..They are plainly marked..Gas is the shortie..http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=128941I don't know why you have the female in the torch when the cable comes with the female end..That is also the water OUT power IN..Yeah that is how this game is played..See the difference? This is a WP-20 torch.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home. |
