Patriot BBC head repair

Makes for a bad day when a valve and piston try to occupy same place at same time. Valve and head lost that battle. In a impact failure there tends to be fractured areas around hole. In pics you can see hole is much larger after weld prep- fracured stuff removed. Preheat at 350, weld hole and dings with a356, post heat 350, grind welds and machine for new seats, fab seats, pressure test, surface. Reply:Awesome looking repair!! Not to sound simple but what is a 356? Did you use a filler piece or just start filling in the area..Really interested but I know almost nothing about it? Reply:castweld  -  Great work, even greater patience.Same Time / Same Space  =  Interference, or Sucked a Valve.One cylinder damaged = SaV.In addition to the discrete, deep-damage welds, you 'weld dressed' the head plane surface, 'visually within' the cylinder head gasket imprint. Reply:What do you think of the Patriot stuff as far as quality goes? Does the Aluminum seem to be on par with other Aftermarket Aluminum head manufacturers, Brodix,AFR,Dart......?
