Put together a cart for my Millermatic211.1.5'' sq tubing, expanede metal, some harbor freight wheels/casters, allthread w/ nuts andwashers for the rear wheels, 3/8'' round bar for the handle.Have a spot for the welder, bottle, chop saw, speed square, magnets, clamps, grinder.Need a spot for wire wheel or grinding wheel.May add 2 loops for a strap to hold the welder. But it stays put well, so maybe not.Comments? Suggestions?first project after the cart?another headache rack, not quite done, but probably tomorrow.
Reply:If you open the side door and look in the bottom you will see 2 small dimples for the "feet". They have holes in them that can be used to bolt it down to the expanded metal, 2 1/4" bolts with large washers underneath will do the trick. I did this with my MM140 to bolt it to the angle iron on my cart. It beats having it strapped down or something in the way holding it in place. It is easy to take loose to get it off the cart if you need to. Take a look and see if the holes/dimples are there. If the dimples are there but not the holes, just go buy 2 1/4" holes at the hardware store and install them according to package instructions, and get the 1/4" bolts washers and nuts while your at it.
Reply:Come off one side and make another metal handel like in the front for holding your grinders..good job.

Funny, my place only sells holes in large bulk packages I can never find them in the smaller quantities or sizes when I need them. The assorted packages always only seem to come with just one in the size I need, and then I can't find the rest I saved the next time around when I go to look for them. I think they end up getting stuck in my socks and the knees of my pants for some reason.

Reply:thanks for the responses and advice. didn't think to look at the feet for mounting. will look into that next weekend. yup, need a better spot for the grinder and i'd like to get another grinder so i don't have to change from a wire wheel to flap wheel or grinding stone.also need a spot for extra consumables. DSW, the 4 wheeled cart in the back is nice. has the bobcat 225, ingersoll rand compressor, plenty of tool storage, lights, and torch. weighs about 4k all loaded up. my regular cab 4x4 colorado did not like pulling it much w/ the 4banger. |
